Data Visualization

Here, you’ll find a collection of my work showcasing the power of data through engaging, informative, and visually compelling graphics. Each project demonstrates my commitment to making data not only understandable, but also visually appealing. Dive into these examples to see how I blend design with analytics to communicate stories and brighten up education.

Out & Open

This project showcases various data visualizations and maps related to open and closed lesbian bars in the U.S. It includes bar charts, maps, and colorful icons representing different aspects of the data. Data visualization is a skill I have enjoyed exploring and as part of the queer community advocacy has always been important to me. When I learned about the very few lesbian bars that are open, despite there being reportedly 200+ in the 1980s, I wanted to further investigate and highlight those that are still in service. Greggor Mattson created an interactive map that shows all the closed lesbian bars from years 2006-2016 and I analyzed data from the years 2010-2016.

Banned Picture Books

Created for Multi-Cultural Strategic Communication, this data visualization shows the make-up of authors of children's banned books which have been banned. We can also see the supposed "reason" cited for the banning of the book. Read more about this project in my reflection, here.
